Cristian Dominguez Rein-Loring got here through photography, film, and a stubborn need to build things. When the first Oculus developer kit shipped, he co-founded New Horizons, later renamed Virtual Voyagers, in Madrid. There were no 360 cameras to buy yet, so he designed his own: GoPro arrays off a 3D printer, more than ten rig models, footage stitched in PTGui, Autopano Video, VideoStitch, and Vahana. Hundreds of immersive projects followed, in more than twenty countries. His rigs rode inside Formula 1 cars for Ferrari, and Fukushima: Contaminated Lives, a Greenpeace documentary he shot inside the exclusion zone with cameras he built himself, won a Lovie Award.
Then came the live shows. Running technology for Supersphere in Los Angeles, he broadcast Billie Eilish, Foo Fighters, Post Malone, Kid Cudi, and Steve Aoki live into Meta's headsets, built volumetric capture stages, and mounted cameras everywhere from UFC octagons to first-person on headlining DJs at Tomorrowland. Today he is a Creative Technical Lead at Meta Reality Labs Entertainment, where he was Technical Supervisor on the SNL50 immersive experience, winner of the 2025 Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Emerging Media Program. Three earlier projects were Emmy-nominated. He is a member of the Television Academy, the Visual Effects Society, and the Advanced Imaging Society.
The personal projects share one thread: build the tool, then live by it. Council exists because he wanted to know what the rest of his life costs. It runs his own FIRE projections, cross-border taxes included, down to the euro. Neuropsych is a free cognitive assessment platform, in English and Spanish, for anyone who wants to understand how their own mind works. And The Last Cloud, an animated short about a small cloud looking for others like him, is his way of talking about global warming without using a single statistic.
